For The Children
Pre-school/Head Start
- Classroom Aide - assist teachers with class time activities on long term, regular basis.
- Special Activities Aide - lead special activities such as art, music, dance, and storytelling.
- Computer Tutor - assist children with various educational software programs.
- Lunch Buddy - share lunch and a book with a preschooler.
After School Care
- Computer Tutor - assist elementary-aged children with various educational software programs.
- Field Trip Buddy - accompany children on field trips every Wednesday.
- Special Activities Aide - lead special activities such as art, music, dance, and storytelling.
Lobs - N - Lessons
- Tennis Coach
Youth Services
- Hand In Hand Positive Youth Development Programs (Mon. - Thurs. 4 - 6 p.m.)
- Program Aide - assist group leaders working with teenagers to improve social interaction skills.
- Speaker - speak on a topic, lead games or teach conflict resolution or other skills one time only or on an ongoing basis.
- Tutor - assist with homework, use of computer and educational software, newsletter production and other special projects.
Life Skills/Operation T.E.A.M.
(Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.)
- Mentor - work directly with teens in program to take projects from start to finish one or two evenings per week.
- Speaker - present interactive informational sessions on specific topics related to business or life skills (presentations approximately one hour in length).
Consultant - help group with specific tasks such as finance, marketing, and management (one year commitment for an as needed basis).
Strengthening Families
Family And Emergency Services
Seniors (Tuesday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
- Program Aide - assist group leader with active, fun seniors group, accompany seniors on field trips, offer companionship at WBCH during group hours, and assist with other tasks on a weekly basis with a six month commitment.
Food Pantry
- Shopper - shop for food pantry items, unloads and shelves items on a recurring basis (varies depending on need, up to once a week).
- Food Drive Coordinator - organize and execute a food drive to collect staples for food pantry.
Enhancing Neighborhoods
Community Development
- Computer Tutor - teach adults and youth computer skills on a weekly or bi-weekly basis during evenings or weekends.
- Environmental Project Aide - garden, and help with trash pick-up for the agency and surrounding communities on a weekly or bi-weekly basis during evenings or weekends.
- Flyer Delivery - deliver flyers throughout community about programs and special events on an as needed basis.
- Office Assistant - help with data entry, bulk mailing and general office tasks on a weekly basis.
Support Services
- Receptionist - answer and direct incoming calls and greet visitors three to five days per week.
- Facility Maintenance Specialists - help with building maintenance and repair projects, including painting, light carpentry and grounds maintenance.
Grace Arents' Library
- Library assistant- cleaning, organizing, cataloging, and working with staff and community members. Hours vary.
Specially skilled volunteers needed to work once a week on a special project such as drama, photography, arts and crafts, music, dance, computers, and physical activities. Volunteers must have experience with children, maturity, enthusiasm, and skill in an area they would like to teach. Flexible times.
