The William Byrd Community House School Age After-School Program is a state licensed, nationally accredited, program for children ages 5 to 12. The program offers high quality, low cost nurturance to the children of families who might not otherwise be able to afford after-school care.
The After-School Program is designed to give each child and his/her family the opportunity to maximize growth and development, and serves up to 80 children. Participants are enrolled at three locations five days a week during the school year, from 2:40 until 6:00 p.m.
Children participate in group discussions, games, weekly clubs, computer labs and school work. Homework assistance is available to program participants. Highly trained staff monitors growth, development and behavior through on-site observation, daily contact with parents, and home and school visitations. A school-age summer day camp offers activities including field trips, swimming, arts & crafts, sports, computer and library access and more. Transportation is provided for both the school year and summer programs.
In November 2006, the After-School Program received national accreditation from the National After School Association!
