Over the years many donors have given William Byrd Community House vital support through generous contributions. We hope you will consider joining this distinguished group by making your tax-deductible gift to support the programming that helps our neighbors become self-sufficient.

Lydia Ferrell Lorentzen was a committed and generous individual who supported the agency for more than 50 years. After Lydia’s death, the Lydia Ferrell Lorentzen Societies was established to honor donors who make a financial commitment to the agency of $1,000 or more.

Grace Arents (1848-1926) was a notable patron of many worthy services that exist to this day in and around the City of Richmond. A constant supporter of children and children’s services, ‘Miss Grace’ paved the way in making education, health, and social services available to children and families in need. The Grace Arents Giving Society was established in her memory to honor community leaders that contribute $10,000 or more.

WBCH Genealogists Help Establish The Ghana Genealogy DNA Project

Members of the WBCH African American Genealogy group were part of the CAAGRI delegation to Ghana to establish the Sankofa DNA Project: Viola Parsons-Sturdivant, Linda Cheatham, Vera Smith, Dorothea Winfree, and Patty Parks, Director of the WBCH Grace Arents Library and Education Center.
